We just received three very cool new dresses from the Mercy Spring Summer collection. The Swiss cotton blocked shirt dress (above) is inspired by the idea of a woman wearing an oversized men’s shirt. This dress can either be belted, or worn loose, and instantly makes you feel put together because it’s like a crisp white shirt, but better. For the transitional weather we’ve been experiencing of late, I’ve been wearing my white cotton shirt dress like a tunic over skinny jeans. This piece has quickly become a Spring favourite.

Established in 1947, Lochcarron of Scotland creates some of the world’s best textiles including authentic tartans. Their mills produce fabric for such luxury brands as Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, and Burberry. In addition to that list, Gaspard owners Jennifer and Richard make winter coats with Lochcarron textiles for their label, Mercy.
For Mercy’s Fall/Winter 2012 Collection, there are two coats made of these prestigious textiles: a Blackwatch Tartan Mohair coat with silk-lined pockets and sleeves (top) and a Herringbone Mohair coat with horn buttons (center). I’ve also included a picture of Mercy’s plaid coat (bottom) from last season because it is so special and we only have one left!

These MERCY shirt dresses and tops are made with a beautiful Liberty of London wool print. The whimsical print is a must-see in person. It is a floral available in both dark blue and pink, with dragonflies, butterflies, and even tiny elephants.

Looking for some Fall outfit inspiration? With cooler weather come great opportunities for layering! We’ve got knits from Roberto Collina in neutral colours, some with a hint of metallic to add a little sparkle to any outfit. Here the 3/4 sleeve knit jacket is layered over a Mercy Liberty print top (see above) and dress (see below).
Finally, accessories are best not overlooked! They really complete an outfit and give a place for the eye to rest. I’m constantly surprised how the complex and colourful Iosselliani pieces look so right with everything from a floral printed blouse to a graphic t-shirt.

We have now received our first delivery of the Fall 2012 collection from Mercy.
Earlier this summer I visited the studio and took some photographs of samples. Now in store, we have beautiful light wool shirt dresses, tops, and button down shirts (in a variety of colours and prints), as well as quilted cotton Liberty dresses (cap sleeve and 1/2 sleeve) and stunning high-waisted skirts in abstract inky blue florals as well as grey-green.
